No More Lies for Lance

Lance Bass: Click to watch"A little announcement and you're everywhere," says Lance Bass, downplaying his huge confession when he came out on the cover on People magazine. "It's 2006, it shouldn't even be a story."

Bass made an appearance at an Entertainment Weekly party and admitted he thinks all the media attention is a bit overwhelming. "Personally, nothing has changed, I have the same friends, the same family, it's been amazing. But I think business wise it's been crazy 'cuz everyone's paying attention to what I'm doing now."

Though he's been under the radar the last few years, the former 'NSYNC-er says he has both a video countdown show and a CW pilot in the works and is happy his recent confession isn't affecting his professional life.

"I'm totally happy, I'm like a completely different person," says Bass. "You know, it just sucks with all the lies you have to tell especially being in this business and now, it's just like, 'Wow, I don't have to tell any lies to get jobs and stuff' so it's very cool."

2. He mentioned the attention he's getting now. I think he missed the "attention" from his N'Sync days and that's why he "came out of the closet". Poor thing!

3. Uh, it's like, a huge story because you were in a hot boyband giving everyone the impression you were straight when you should have been out of the closet then. That is if it's not such a big deal. It's news when a "stud" suddenly pops out of a gay cake screaming I like c*ck.

6. I'm only bummed that we live in a homophobic society where this is even a big issue. I'm happy Lance came out, I'm unhappy that he had to hide it in the first place (but I can understand why he did...this is George W. Bushworld). Good for Lance and I know he will feel 1000x better that his "secret" is no longer.

There's something really wrong here that people are trashing Lance Bass because he's finally in a place where he can say, "screw the ramifications- personal and professional" and just get to be who he is.... Either you people don't understand/haven't experienced the sting of homosexual prejudice or you are seriously jaded cynics. Either way, good for him. Cut the guy some slack- even if he is using the media b/c of his program launch, they are still allowing themselves to be used. Be happy for the guy.

9. If the business he's in is so unbending and homophobic, then why is he in it? It's been made clear that people don't care. And if it's not a story then he wouldn't have made an announcement. He would've, I don't know, just stopped hiding? He could've just begun living his life how he wanted to live it. You make a big statement to the media, you're gonna get attention. So spare me.

And I agree with this chris person up there...not necessarily the balls across the nose thing, but the second part.

10. Stephen S, I'm gay. I was closeted for years...back in the friggin 70's! You don't feel duped when people like Lance get in the business, get famous, make the big bucks (Ricky Martin anyone?) and then...when they're all flush with cash pop out and yell SUPRISE!!!? I do. It's like finding out Mr. Rogers was a pedophile. Or Pam Anderson is really a man. Or that Milli Vanilli can't sing!

14. #3 since when is lance bass "a stud" ..? i don't know where you live but here in los angeles he would barely make a #2...and that boyfriend who is a #7 at best is just trying to catch some of the spot light....hello..he is a realtor...which is synanmous with hooker in los angeles.....like i said, we need some hot ones to come out..they are there, but since los angeles is so homophobic with the movie industry..they will never show up...its all very undercover...whats to motivate a mathew to join the ranks of richard simmons and rupert everett? 15. What's the big deal about him being gay? Where's the controversy ? Hell how many people don't have somebody that's gay in their family that always decieds to come out of the closet around chrismas or thanksgiving?
