Cops: Former Football Star Tucked Drugs and Ran

Former USC great, NFL flop, and not-that-bad Arena Football star Todd Marinovich was arrested this weekend after cops say he was hiding almost a gram of methamphetamine, a syringe and a spoon in his guitar case.

According to sources, 38-year-old Marinovich was skateboarding near the Newport Pier in Orange County -- where boarding is strictly prohibited -- when police approached him. Cops say a frightened Marinovich then took off, leading them on a short chase. Cops caught up with the former QB, who was never much of a scrambler, hiding in a carport six blocks away.

Todd has nine prior drug-related cases in Orange County, and was on probation for a previous drug conviction.

Marinovich appeared in a Newport Beach court yesterday, where he plead not guilty to three misdemeanor charges. He will remain in custody until the Sept. 6 hearing.

a bullet between his fathers eyes... How sad , this should show all the
fathers out there how easy to ruin your son.... Maybe in 5 -10 this punk

18. The old drug addiction is a disease card comes out every time don't it?

Tell that disease story to someone who is dying from cancer, who didn't choose to NOT get treatment.
I am glad there is help available for addicts to fully recover, but don't attempt to place addiction in a category with diseases of no choice .

The guy fit's right into the NFL of today he should give it another try

20. WOW! I have been a Raider's fan for more than 30 years and I can't believe how old this guy looks now! He looks like a guy in his late 40s early 50s...and WTF was he doing skateboarding at his age? That alone is very odd!

Get better bro and salvage the rest of your life.

21. He was a great quarterback at USC with all the talent in the world; however, he never learned how to grow up.

22. Judaz is correct. I remember when he was just a kid and the stories about his father monitoring his diet and completely controlling him. It's no wonder he's turned out like he has.

27. Ok so let's see he broke the law only a different kind of law than Mike Vick did so we all should scream racism. Just like M Vike made a choice (to do dogfights) so did Todd Marinovich when he stared the drugs. I guess they were never taught or how to say the word no.

30. Why is it always the parent's fault? His Dad helped him try to make it. The rest is nasty gossip. Oooooh. No sugar. What an ogre. (rolls eyes). He showed promise, but not everyone makes it. He needs help, and then needs a new career and future to work towards, look forward to and to believe in. Maybe football was not in the cards for Todd, but no need to be mean about it either towards Todd or his Dad. Unless you grow up in his family, any subsequent gossip as to why is simply speculation. Heartbreaking disappointment doesn't need morehammering once the nail is already in. Best wishes to him on finding a new future.
