Kanye West has made it clear -- he don't want his MTV. Or does he?

Blaming the music channel for Britney Spears' public meltdown, West put the network on blast, saying, "They exploited her, they played me and I really don't mess with MTV." West was upset because he says he wanted to perform his new single, "Stronger," on the show's main stage, but was relegated to a "suite" performance by the network, even though Justin Timberlake, who also performed in a suite on Sunday's show, ended up "on the big stage" to close the broadcast. Hold up, hater!


A source connected to the awards show tells TMZ that Kanye was offered the main stage, but opted for the suite, claiming he wanted to "feel the excitement and energy" of a smaller venue, rather than people just sitting there at tables. In addition, Kanye's "Stronger" performance was pre-taped Friday night -- to give it a "night" look -- as the actual show went live Sunday night at 6:00 PM, while there was still daylight in Vegas. Our sources say Kanye "loved" his act and expressed that to the MTV execs who were all there. We ain't sayin' he's a golddigger...

For their part, MTV says it "has a long and collaborative relationship with Kanye and we hope and look forward to continuing that meaningful relationship."

16. I disagree with Kanye's tirade about losing the award, but of course he is right about MTV exploiting Brit Brit. The new she would draw viewers.

18. Yes i do agree with the comment about MTV exploiting her for ratings i mean they knew EVERYONE tuned in just to see her, I did and I NEVER watch the awards shows just the highlights. I found it very weird when i heard that was the FEATURED artist for the night? I mean true she has not had a hit record in years her career and private life has been in complete turmoil for the past couple years so it just seemed really weird that they choose her but it was obvious why. RATINGS!

19. I am NEVER one to agree with Kanye, BUT I do think that Mtv exploited Britney to get higher ratings... they knew what they were doing, and it worked. But she should have known that she wasn't ready and bailed out of it... in the end it was her responsibility to say "You know what ya'll? I don't think this is the best idea!" But other than that... Kanye is a whiny baby and needs to get over himself... eveybody buy Fiddy's album just to shut him the hell up!!

One more thing I've noticed abou this website is that when people say racist stuff on here, unless its a Black man ofcourse in which case we need to get put in our place immediately, all the other white people on here stay quite and don't say anything is it because you all are racist too or just cowards? 27. Brit was exploited. Did MTV not know she was going to blow it. Hell they wanted her to be the trainwreck she is to hype up the ratings. They knew what they were doing. The ratings were 23% higher than last year. Kayne is just a sore loser. People sell records because they are liked and/or have personality. Our fascinaiton with trainwrecks out do our care for talent right now(sad to say but that is the truth). Brits new CD will sell lots more than most, because of the "human nature". I Am am not going to buy Brit's, Kayne's or 50's. There is enough room for all to make money. Different music(different strokes for different folks). I do have to say Kayne" I heard your new single is something to listen to"

29. I'm tired of Kanye always crying like a baby when he doesn't win anything. He has a couple good songs but he sure isn't God's gift to music as he seems to think. I bet 50 Cent wins this album release thing that he and Kanye have. I'd be embarrassed to buy a Kanye CD. I wouldn't even want to download his music illegally!! Kanye needs to quit whinning and grow up already. If he had such a problem with not getting to play the main stage then why did he even play at the suite? Oh yeah I forgot it's a "race thing" with Kanye.
