Michael Bay: Steven & Jerry Wouldn't Take This!

Michael BayMichael Bay sent a scathing email to Paramount Studios before the release of "Transformers 2," complaining in effect that his famous director friends would be shocked at the way Paramount was promoting the flick.

We've obtained an email dated May 4, 2009 -- from Bay to Paramount head Brad Grey, along with a bunch of other Paramount honchos. Bay complains bitterly that Paramount's ad campaign for "Transformers 2" was tepid and ineffective.

"... I have been waiting, and waiting for the anticipation of an 'event movie' to make it into the 'public zeitgeist,'" Bay writes.

Bay calls the print campaign an "abject failure," with a "pathetic presence" in the L.A. Times. He's especially pissed about the profile of the movie on the MTV Video Awards, calling it "so lame."

But here's the best part. Bay name-drops Jerry Bruckheimer, saying Jerry always told him "a studio that does not make [the opening of a movie] an event ... will get bitten in the ass." He then adds, "Besides my good friend Steven [Spielberg], Jerry has made a lot more successful movies then (sic) all of us."

Bay then asks, sarcastically, "Is this is a cash issue with your company?"

In fairness, on June 6, Bay clearly had a change of heart, sending an email to Grey and others at Paramount, praising them for treating him well, adding ..."Paramount is like family. Thank you all for busting your butts and bringing your 'A game' for the release of Transformers."

Bet Steven and Jerry haven't sent such a nice email to their studios!

Unemployed Actors -- Easy Come, Easy Go

In case it's not already clear, out-of-work actors really are willing to do anything for cash/fame ... even if it involves mimicking bodily fluids.

The director of "The Great Sperm Race" hired hundreds of unemployed actors and extras to dress in all white and run across North America -- mimicking the sperm's journey from, well, "point A" to "point B". It doesn't look like the work was that interesting either -- the actors' direction was to "run for your life."

The film reportedly spent the majority of its 2 million dollar budget on the hundreds of actors' fees and a costly scene involving a water slide ...

'Love Guru' Costs Dumbass 6 Months of Freedom

The Love GuruIt may be the dumbest move of all time: A man risking his personal freedom, public humiliation and his entire career -- all because he wanted to illegally burn a copy of "The Love Guru."

As if sitting through the flick wasn't punishment enough, a 28-year-old named Jack Yates was just sentenced to 6 months in a federal prison for burning illegal DVDs of the awful flick for his friends before the movie came out in 2008.

Yates' copy eventually made it to the 'net, where it was illegally downloaded more than 85,000 times.

Dude pleaded guilty to copyright infringement -- he's also guilty of the worst taste in movies ever.

Bruno -- Based on a Real Gay Austrian?!

The Austrian media is going crazy over the new movie "Bruno" -- claiming Sacha Baron Cohen based his fake flamboyant Austrian TV host ... on a real life flamboyant Austrian TV host.

Bruno

The dude caught in the middle is Alfons Haider -- he's proud to be gay, he's into fashion, and (just like Bruno) he's also been known to compare himself to Zac Efron.

Want more evidence? -- Alfons is the highest-paid presenter on Austrian state broadcaster ORF. In the film, Bruno works for a channel called OJRF. Coincidence?

The controversy has been raging in Austria for a while, but Haider just told The Telegraph newspaper, "I never understood the comparison to myself at all. The only comparisons I can think of is that I'm Austrian, I'm gay, and I work for television, but the rest is completely fiction."

Anyone really buyin' that?

Kevin Spacey -- Big Bully?

On top, a photo taken by a 59-year-old man of Kevin Spacey on the set of his movie, "Casino Jack."
On bottom, a photo taken by the same man after he was allegedly thrown into the bushes for taking said photo.

Kevin Spacey

It's a he said/he said story -- the photog claims he happened upon the film set on Sunday and decided to snap a few pics. That's when he says he was grabbed by the arm, led to the sidewalk, and tossed into the bushes by some guys from the crew. Once he dusted himself off, he claims Kevin Spacey himself told him, "Don't ever take my picture and fight with the crew."

The film crew has a different story. They told the Ontario Provincial Police the photog was anything but an amateur and when he was asked to leave, pushed one of the production assistants away and "struck him in the neck with something." As for the photog falling down -- the P.A. claims the photog stumbled while he was walking backwards up the steps.

The cops took statements from both sides -- there were no injuries and neither side was looking to press charges.

The police report does not mention Spacey at all. We're told Kevin did talk to the photog, but only after he saw the P.A. get assaulted.

Denzel Loves the Lakers, Lakers Love Him Back

Denzel WashingtonFear not Lakers faithful -- Kobe Bryant and his boys have the perfect motivational tool before game four of the NBA finals: movie night (a shiver runs down the Magic's collective spines).

We're told the Lakers had three options for tonight's team bonding outing -- "The Hangover," "Angels & Demons" and "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3."

We would have recommended "The Hangover" (HYSTERICAL!!!), but coach Phil Jackson chose "Pelham" because the team wanted "to support [their] season ticket holder," Denzel Washington.

A discount on his pricey floor seats might be more appreciated by D Dub.

NBC Universal -- The Tape Will Set Bruno Free

The suits over at NBC Universal are calling BS on the lady who claims she suffered "life-altering" injuries during a Bruno stunt at a bingo hall in 2007 -- and the company says there's video evidence to prove it.

A rep for NBC Universal just released this statement:

"Filmed footage of the full encounter, which took place more than two years ago, clearly shows that Ms. Olson was never touched or in any way assaulted by Sacha Baron Cohen or any member of the production and suffered no injury.

If the Olsons elect to proceed with their frivolous action, we expect each of the defendants to be fully vindicated
."
